Biography
Nicholas Ranallo is an experienced litigator, and has appeared before numerous state and federal courts in California. Mr. Ranallo works extensively on copyright and trademark issues and has successfully represented both Plaintiffs and Defendants in federal litigation. Mr. Ranallo has an active interest in internet and emerging technologies. He has successfully litigated several cases in California courts seeking to recover stolen and unlawfully transferred domain names. Mr. Ranallo has also advised internet companies on the contours of DMCA compliance and CDA immunity for certain user-generated content.
In addition, Mr. Ranallo enjoys advising artists, musicians, photographers and authors on the legal implications of their work, as well as strategies and advice for protecting their valuable intellectual property, protecting rights of privacy and publicity, and avoiding potential liability stemming from their creative endeavors. Mr. Ranallo also works with start-ups and developing companies, and can assist with all aspects of business formation, incorporation, and start up services. Mr. Ranallo also has experience with California real estate and landlord-tenant practice.
Finally, Mr. Ranallo has extensive experience working with insurance companies and adjusters in both California and New York. Mr. Ranallo has a strong familiarity with New York’s No Fault Insurance Laws has conducted numerous EUO’s, recorded statements, and site investigations for insurance companies and adjusters.
Mr. Ranallo made the Dean’s List each of his eight semesters while earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Minnesota. Mr. Ranallo graduated cum laude from Tulane University Law School, with a certificate in Environmental Law. While at Tulane, Mr. Ranallo worked in various sectors of the New Orleans legal community including a small private firm, an environmental non-profit and Tulane’s Criminal Law Clinic. After law school, Mr. Ranallo worked for several years for Stern & Montana, a mid-sized New York insurance defense firm, and gained extensive experience in New York State Courts throughout the five boroughs and beyond.
