Alexis N. Mueller
Title: Of Counsel
Mr. Mueller concentrates on transactional law in the areas of in digital media, entertainment and intellectual property, with a keen interest in technology related matters. Mr. Mueller works with a broad range of digital media and entertainment clients including free-lancers, entrepreneurs, entertainers and artists, as well as larger corporate entities and organizations. He also advises a wide array of clients as a technologist and business consultant.
Prior to joining MMD, Mr. Mueller worked at the law firm of Cowan, DeBaets, Abrahams & Sheppard LLP, where he served as outside counsel for A&E, Oxygen Network, CourtTV, PlumTV, Glenn Beck, and the Recording Industry Association of America. In that capacity, Mr. Mueller worked on a broad range of complex transactional and litigation matters.
Mr. Mueller also advises his clients during the selection, clearance, development and prosecution of their copyrights and trademarks in the United States, as well as international trademarks under the Madrid Protocol. Mr. Mueller has experience representing clients in proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, in other legal actions involving intellectual property infringement claims, and in UDRP proceedings for domain name disputes.
After earning Bachelor of Arts degrees in English and Information Systems from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Mr. Mueller received his Juris Doctorate degree from Brooklyn Law School, where he focused his studies on intellectual property law, entertainment law and Internet technology law. While at Brooklyn Law School, he was voted class president and Mr. Mueller's proposal for the Entertainment, Media, and the Arts Journal was a finalist candidate for his law school's fourth journal. Prior to law school, Mr. Mueller worked at the law firm of Simpson Thacher & Bartlett. Before beginning his legal career, Mr. Mueller worked as a software and website developer.
Mr. Mueller is fluent in German and conversant in French.
